SATs – Preparation and Practice
What are SATs?
SATs are the tests which children complete in Year Six. They assess children in three areas:
- spelling, punctuation and grammar (Spag),
- and maths.
SATs allow the school, and the Government, to have a clear idea of where children are making progress or in need of extra help.
At Leap, we have designed a range of lessons focused on SATs and entrance exams. Your child will learn how to deal with exam conditions, questions and how to manage the pressure that they may feel.
By preparing our learners, they can achieve their true potential.

What does Leap offer?
All of our sessions follow the National Curriculum – this means you can have confidence that each and every time your child comes to Leap they will build their SATs skills.
We run our special exam lessons in the run-up to the SATs in May. This includes maths and English exam preparation and exam skills.
Children need guidance and practice in how to write in an exam, what to expect, time management and how to stay focused.
Our sessions will give them the strategies they need.
After the SATs
Once your child has received their results, there may be aspects of their understanding which require extra work. Leap can support them through this.
We also provide sessions in preparing for the step-up to secondary school.
Throughout the year, our qualified teacher staff will deliver the best sessions for your child to allow them to show what they can really do!
